As you approach the bay with its dark pebbles and azure waters, it is clear you are somewhere timeless and unique. The turf roof, stone walls and glass façade of the contemporary accommodation discreetly add another dimension to the landscape.

Inside, a kingsize bed sits upon a dais, a step up from the living area and fireplace, so the incredible view dominates the space. The modern bathroom matches the rest of THE property for drama – an arrow slit window capturing a view of the dramatic rock formations along the coast and leading to the outdoor spa.
From within, it appears you are floating on the open sea, in thrall to its ever changing moods, yet safely embraced by luxury and modern comforts. Outside dolphins and seals often frolic in the glittering water, with only you and the tussock grass to witness them. Situated on a working sheep and cattle coastal farm set along the scenic South Island, this property whisks you away from the everyday world. The turquoise waters are perfect for kayaking and nature cruises potentially seeing the famed Hector’s dolphins. The Philosophy
Fresh and delicious local produce is a hallmark of a stay at THE COVE. Working closely with the gardeners and farm management the award winning chef to ensure we can offer the freshest ingredients, sourced straight from the farms land and extensive gardens and orchard. 
With the Farm to Table guests can enjoy the edible garden which holds a large variety of vegetables and herbs and the heritage orchard contains numerous varieties of apples, pears and plums. Hand select fruit from the heritage trees and vegetables from the edible gardens and forage the bay surrounds for wild edibles all to shape the food that is cooked and presented each day.
This philosophy embraces THE passion for sourcing as many ingredients as possible in season and from local growers and suppliers to our properties. Thus, for the ingredients that cannot be sourced for this escape directly from the farm, we operate within a 100km food footprint working closely with our suppliers to complete the THE experience.

Location
THE COVE is located on the north side  in the second largest bay of Banks Peninsula, overlooking the sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean a leisurely hour’s drive south from Christchurch, ticks all our boxes for an old fashioned yet luxurious getaway. Its location  – a spectacular rocky headland facing the Pacific Ocean – is a picturesque palette of muscular ridges, private coves, and grassy hills grazed by the resident sheep and cattle. Arrival at this sea flecked retreat is either by helicopter or a panoramic drive along cliff top tracks. Roughing it has never been this comfortable!
